No load shedding in backward H-K region
There will be no power shedding in the backward Hyderabad-Karnataka region, which received a special status from the Centre recently, even after the Karnataka government announced load shedding of two hours in urban and six hours in rural areas of the state due to shortage, a top official today said.
GESCOM Managing Director Pallavi Akurati told reporters here that the power company will be able to supply 24 hours power under its region in its jurisdictional districts of Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal and Bellary districts.
She said though load shedding was announced for other parts of the State, the region will not be coming under the load shedding area.
The region had been exempted as it comes under area that experience oppressive heat during summer.
If the situation worsens, she said any plan about load shedding would be intimated to the public in advance.
Following fall in generation and supply from other sources, Energy minister D K Shivakumar on Monday announced load shedding in the state. This was because of shut down of thermal units in Bellary and Raichur which were closed for repair and maintenance.
Minister also said electricity supply companies will soon come out with a load shedding schedule for their respective areas .
