Extensive measures have been taken throughout Kerala to stop the spread of contagious diseases, official sources said here today.


A meeting chaired by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has evaluated that the contagious diseases have declined this year when compared to the calculations of last year, it said.

A state-level committee has been formed with the Chief Minister as chairman and Health Minister as Vice Chairman. District level committees will also soon be formed as part of the measures taken to contain the spread of disease. Mr Chandy has given instruction to give Rs 25,000 to all LSG wards for carrying out their activities.

Health assemblies would be conducted on all Wednesdays in Government, aided and unaided schools and awareness will be given regarding the contagious diseases and steps will be taken for preventing contagious diseases, said the CM.

Participation of student police, NCC, NSS will be ensured for this. Evaluation will be carried out each week in LSG wards regarding the same.
