The Classic Club Kohima (CCK) going to open its 20th edition (2014) Classic Club Football Tournament, which will start from August 18 till September 6 at Kohima Local Ground.


Addressing a press conference last night CCK President K Neibou Sekhose said commemoration of its 20th edition the club would be conducting yearlong celebration with various social activities for the welfare of the general public and also to make some changes in the forthcoming football tournament to improve and promote the game among the young talents of the state.

He said the club formed in 1994 by a group of like-minded persons in humble way by individual contribution.

Mr Sekhose said the club wishes to focus more on the promotion of local players and this year the champion prize would be Rs 1.5 lakh from 1 lakh last year and runners-up will be given Rs 70,000 and other individual prizes. He said the club also welcomes the outside teams to participate in this tournament.

Nagaland Assembly Speaker Chotisuh Sazo, who also member Classic Club, highlighted some of the activities carried by the club members in last 19th years which includes besides the Football Tournament, charity works, medical camp, orphanage library, exposure tour, environmental activities, sponsorship of underprivileged children and the Annual Classic Award awards to a person, who achieve in the field of literature, sports and in any of the field of music.

Discussion on various issues, suggestions and interactions with the club members and media persons for the improvement of the club and to give better service to the general public was deliberated during the meet.
