Calling his aide-de-camps (ADC) the "most valued colleagues of the Head of State", President Pranab Mukherjee Sunday said they are not "guests but inmates" of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Speaking at the first official reunion of the ADCs here Sunday, Mukherjee said he considered them "to be not only constant companions of the President but the most valued colleagues of the Head of State."

Mukherjee urged the ADCs to always bear in mind that "they were never guests but inmates of this house and each and every part of which is associated not only with imperial history but the history of our country, its people and its future".

The aides had gathered from around India and the globe, including countries like the US, Australia, Britain, Egypt and the UAE.

The event was attended by ADCs past and present, representing all the presidencies since Independence, a statement from the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
