Though providing a healing touch to the people of Seemandhra, hurt over the bifurcation, Congress President Sonia Gandhi today announced a number of developmental schemes it will take up in the region if voted back to power.


Addressing a public meeting here this evening, the first in Seemandhra after the bifurcation decision, Ms Sonia said after a series of confabulations ,consultations and after eliciting views of various sections of the society,the bifurcation decision was taken.

Stating that she understood the sentiments of the people of the region, she said all political parties had submitted their letters to the Centre favouring the creation of Telangana state.

She said the bill seeking to carve out Telangana contained provisions to create many modern facilities in Seemandhra.

The City of Hyderabad will be the common capital for both the states for ten years and status quo will be maintained as far as educational and medical facilities in the city for people of all regions are concerned.

Announcing a number schemes for the region, she said an industrial corridor will be created from Visakhapatnam to Chennai.
