Bolywood actress Amisha Patel today said Congress candidate Rajinder Rana, contesting from Hamirpur Lok Sabha Constituency, was a real social worker who cares for his people.

Addressing a well attended public meeting at Gandhi Chowk here in favour of Mr Rana, Ms Patel said he was a humble person and seemed to be involved in social activities,

She said 'it indicates that Mr Rana has nothing to do with film celebrities and remembers the people rather than remembering the names of Bollywood stars'. She said this was in contrast to his high-profile rival and BJP candidate Anurag Thakur, who is mostly seen with film celebrities.

The actress also said that Mr Thakur, who is a sitting MP from Hamirpur, is often seen in Mumbai, Dubai and South Africa and is well aware of the names of every film star.

Ms Patel added that she can judge from the enthusiasm and mood of the people that the Congress candidate would be successful in seizing the citadel.

She said the BJP candidate from Hamirpur will suffer a massive defeat and called upon the people to vote for such a candidate who was committed to the well being of its people and the state.

'I strongly feel that Mr Rana is the most compatible candidate to raise concerns of the people in Parliament,' she said.

Earlier, Amisha Patel held a road show from Bhota Chowk to Gandhi Chowk and the people, especially the youth gathered in large numbers to welcome her en-route.
