The twin blasts in two coaches of the Bangalore-Guwahati Express via Chennai, at the Central station here this morning were caused by a timer bomb, according to preliminary investigation.

A 24 -year-old woman, who was travelling to Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh from Bangalore was killed in the blast while 14 were injured in the twin blasts that occurred in coaches S4 and S5 of the train.

Sources said the material used in the bomb was ammonium nitrate, nitro toluene and a small amount of sulphur. The blasts occurred as the train arrived on platform number 9. UNI
