Blasting the BJP for its anti-Congress diatribe, Congress president Sonia Gandhi today said the leaders of the former party were pretending to have a very 'clean image'.

"BJP and its senior leaders are these days making several accusations on the Congress as if they all are having very clean image and are completely innocent," Ms Gandhi said while addressing an election meeting at Parade ground here.

If this is the matter, then why BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi did not allow the appoitnment of a Lokayukt in Gujarat for 10 years, she questioned. Besides, a number of tainted ministers are in his team.

The Congress supremo further hit out at Mr Modi and other party leaders for treating themselves like any ruler. "The BJP is greedy for power and is not really concerned about the problems of the people," she said.

Ms Gandhi further alleged that Mr Modi has given 45,000 acre agricultural land to his near and dear ones at cheap price.

Hitting out at Mr Modi over the much-hyped Gujarat model, the Congress leader said many children are reeling under the problem of malnutrition in Gujarat, besides a number of villages are not having adequate drinking water.

'Mr Modi seems to be over-confident about his win, but it is only the people, who will decide what has to be done,' the Congress president claimed.

Moreover, she said, "the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government has framed several laws, including the Right to Information (RTI) to control corruption."

Recently, the BJP had made several accusations on Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi. The party had charged Ms Gandhi with protecting her son-in-law Robert Vadra, who had amassed huge wealth in three years.

The Congress supremo's daughter and party star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had also hit back at the BJP in this war of words.
