Priyanka moves in Amethi without SPG security cover
Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi's daughter and party star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today dropped out her Special Protection Group (SPG) security cover and proceeded to campaign for her brother Rahul without them in this parliamentary constituency.
The officials went in a tizzy, when Ms Vadra took away the car keys of her SPG sleuths and headed towards Mohanganj locality in Gauriganj area.
Ms Vadra, who is in Amethi to campaign for her brother since last few days, left Munshiganj guest house with the SPG security at 1130 hours.
She was scheduled to address road-side meets at Jayas and Kasimpur, but to everyone's surprise, Ms Vadra decided to visit Mohanganj, that too without any security.
The Congress star campaigner, who was accompanied by Rahul Gandhi's representative Chandrakant and a driver, even became furious when they advised her not to go out without security.
'I know how to drive and you can alight from the vehicle, if you don't want to accompany me,' was her reply.
Meawnhile, UP principal secretary (Home) Anil Kumar has apprised about the matter to the central government and the SPG headquarters.
The Amethi Lok Sabha seat is going to polls in the fifth phase on May 7 next.
