Eight people, including seven children have sustained severe injuries in a rabid dog attack at Karigowdanhalli and Hasaganuru in the district.


According to district officials, the incident in the twin villages where the dog went on a biting spree. Seven of the seriously injured were shifted to the Hassan district hospital.

Irate villagers pelted stones at the dog and killed it.

Due to increase in stray dog menace throughout the district, Deputy Commissioner K Anbu Kumar had convened a meeting with the officials in his office and directed city municipal officials to invite short term tenders to trap and neuter stray dogs and return them to their respective areas.

He also said steps will be taken to check stray cattle menace also, as they have already caused a couple of accidents in the district involving moving vehicles.
