The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cancelled today's scheduled election meetings of its patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in Baramulla Parliamentary constituency, going to polls on May 7.


The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has also cancelled a rally in connection with May-day today.

A spokesman of the PDP said that all the programmes of Mr Sayeed and president president Mehbooba Mufti scheduled for today have been postponed due to the prevailing situation arised due to unfortunate killing of a youth in Srinagar.

Mr Sayeed and Ms Mehbooba were scheduled to address a number of election meetings in Baramulla constituency, spread over Kupwara, Bandipora and Baramulla districts in north Kashmir, going to polls on May 7.

The CITU press release said that a rally at S K Park, Srinagar scheduled for today stands cancelled.
