Rahul promises growth in Seemandhara
AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi today assured that the Congress if elected to power would develop Seemandhra into "navya Andhra" with all modern infra facilities including world class educational institutions and industries.
Addressing an election rally here in Hindupur town of this district of Seemandhara, where elections are to be held on May 7, Mr Gandhi said the Congress went ahead with the bifurcation of the state only after other political parties including the TDP, BJP and YSRCP gave letters in favour of Telangana. "Blaming the Congress alone is not right," he said.
The capital of Seemandhra, which has become a poll issue in this election, Mr Gandhi said it would be decided within six months.
Raking up the sensitive caste issue in his rally, AICC vice-president announced that Kapus would be declared as BCs and Valmikis included in ST category.
He also announced a drinking water supply scheme for Visakhapatnam and completion of Handri-Niva project.
