Governor, CM, leaders greet working class
Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, DMK president M Karunanidhi, Union Minister G K Vasan and leaders of various political parties today greeted the working class on the occasion of May day.
In his message, the Governor said "on the occasion of May Day, I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to the working community".
"On the Labour Day, which symbolises the birth of labour movement, let us pay our rich accolades to the dedicated services made by the working community for the growth and development of the economy", Dr Rosaiah said, according to a Raj Bhavan communique.
He said "let us resolve to uphold the rights of the working community, ensure welfare and well being of all the workers and enhance the working environment".
"May this day usher in progress, prosperity, peace and happiness among all my brethren in the working community," the Governor said.
In her message, Ms Jayalalithaa said there must be no discrimination between the working communities.
"This day is marked to recognise rights of workers internationally", she said and extended her greetings to the labour class.
Mr Karunanidhi, in his message, listed out various welfare measures taken by the DMK goverments and extended his greetings to the working class.
Mr Vasan said workers form the backbone of the nation. Their hardwork drives the country to development. "Let us pledge to protect their rights, he added.
