Life term for Lankan Tamil refugees
A Lower court here today awarded life sentence to three Sri Lankan Tamil refugees for murdering another refugee here on October 5, 2009.
According to prosecution, the Victim Sahayaseelan (38) an inmate of the suburb Vazhavandhankottai Sri Lankan Tamil refugees camp came to attend a condolence at Kottapattu Sri Lankan Tamil refugees camp, where he had a wordy quarrel with three Sri lankan Tamil refugees, G Rajagopal (57) and his son R Raghunesan (27) and A Jayarooban (29).
At one stage all the three accused stabbed Sahayaseelan with knifes in which he was died on the spot.
K K Nagar Police arrested all the three and filed murder case against them before the first Additional District Sessions court court here.
The Judge Ms.Poornima in her ruling observed that the crime against the accused were proved beyond reasonable doubt and awarded life sentence to all the three.
The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 2000 each and if they failed to emit the fine they should under go 6 months more imprisonment and the sentence could run concurrently, the judge added.
