Priest found dead: Villagers protest
Tension prevailed for a while at a sleepy village Pudukkuppam in Cuddalore district of Tamilnadu, as a section of villagers agitated over the death of local church priest under mysterious circumstances.
Police said, the Priest James (45), hailed from Poovanipattu Village in the adjoining Ariyalur district.
The villagers, most of them Chiristians, who went to the church for the morning mass, found a room was bolted from inside. The priest James who stayed inside did not open. The door even as they knocked for a longtime.
Later, the villagers broke open the doors and found the priest dead on his bed. Suspecting foul play behind the death of priest, the villagers agitated demanding arrest of those its responsible.
On information, a police party from Srimushnam police station visited the spot and pacified the agitators.
Later, the body of the priest was removed to Government hospital at Virudhachalam for post-mortem,police added.
