An AIADMk functionary today surrendered before a local court here in connection with the sudden appearance of a digital banner hailing that the party candidate has emerged the victor in the April 24 Lok Sabha polls from Kancheepuram constituency.

According to police, the AIADMK coucillor was released on bail by judge R Durai. The digital banner in the heart of this temple and silk town, announced that the AIADMK candidate Maragatham Kumaravel had emereged victor by 1,68,099 votes and thanked the voters for electing him with such a huge margin. The banner also carried a picture of AIADMK supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

The digital banner caused a sensation in the town with people coming to have a look at it eventhough the counting of votes in the general election is to be taken up all over the country only on May 16.

The police arrested four persons who had installed the digital banner and sealed the shop of the owner of the company which had designed the banner.
