Injured tusker moving in Angul-Satkosia forest divison
An injured tusker of about 50 of Satkosia sanctuary is now wandering at Labangi area of Angul forest area for the last few days. The elephant, according to an official source, was actually staying in Satkosia sanctuary area but after sustaining injury he had walked out of that area some days ago and is now roaming under the Angul territorial forest division limits.
The Satkosia sanctuary officials,however, ruled out the injury of the tusker due to bullet.
The elephant is having an injury on the hoof of his front leg by which his movement has become slow. But the injury is not due to bullet and might have been caused by any intrusion of glass or big thorn in the forest, the officials said. The tusker, they said, is not allowing any medical help come near it and is straying into village areas most often for food.
Regional Chief Conservator of Forest of Angul circle Pandav Behera confirmed about the injured tusker. He said a forest official team is keeping a constant watch on the injured tusker to prevent any kind of poaching.
