UNESCO expert for Library Services L J Haravu today called upon the librarians to be proud of their profession as libraries will for long time to cater to ardent readers for ages to come.

Speaking after inaugurating a one-day Workshop in Soft Skills for Librarians, organised jointly by CPDPS and MyLISA at Mansagangothri, today, he said.

"One should not demand status, he should demand it by his virtues," he said.

The sole focus of librarians should be to improve the quality and offerings at the libraries, he said.

"If human is a chain, soft skill should be the polish. The polish always makes the chain glitter," Mr Haravu said.

He also called upon librarians to take every day as a challenge and try to experiment with new things they could do to improve the library.

Dr Niranjana Vanalli, Director, CPDPS presided over the function. 60 librarians from various colleges from across the state participated the workshop.
