Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee President A V Subramanian today said stringent action would be initiated against the Congress workers, who failed to work for the party in the April 24 Lok Sabha elections here.

Addressing a press conference, he said the party would register a thumping victory in the elections here, as people were fed up with the N R Congress governance.

Almost all party functionaries and cadres had worked for the party candidate V Narayansami. However, there was a complaint that some functionaries had worked for other parties in the polls.

Mr Subramanian said stringent action would be initiated against such 'traitors' and they would be suspended from the party for the next six years.

As Rajya Sabha member and Congress leader P Kannan failed to canvass for Mr Narayanasamy, the PCC has recommended to AICC to initiate action against Mr Kannan.

He said all 'traitors' would be weeded out and Congress would contest the coming Assembly election also on its own and win.
