Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha today announced Election Commission's decision to hold repoll in 12 booths in 9 Lok Sabha constitutencies on April 29.

Addressing a news conference here, he said that the Election Code in these 12 booths will come in to effect immediately.

General election to 28 Lok Sabha seats in the State was held on April 17.

Replying to a question, he said that the repoll was ordered mainly because of mal functioning of the EVMs and due to human error in a booth in Turvekere coming under Tumkur Lok Sabha constituency following which 4 offcials were kept under suspension.

He said the election code will be in force only in the Police Station limits of the booth.

Mr Jha said that the Polling will be held from 0700 hrs to 1800 hrs on April 29 and campaigning can be held by candidates till 48 hours before the polling date.
