More PG seats from next year
Post Graduate seats in JIPMER will be increased to 200 in the next academic year, according to Jipmer Director Dr T S Ravikumar today.
Welcoming the gathering at the fifth convocation at JIPMER, he said that the total seats in PG programmes was increased from 121 to 165 . In superspeciality the institute is offering 34 seats and Phd programmes in eight disciplines has been increased to 20 seats each. New courses have been started including MD-Nuclear medicine, D M Endocrinology, M Ch in Surgical Oncology, MD in Emergency medicine. Post B.Sc Diploma courses in seven specialized areas of Nursing , Master of Public Health and allied health courses .
During the last academic year JIPMER's faculty and students had published 459 articles in scientific journals. The institutes intramural grants doubles last year and extra mural research funding has increased several fold. The Institute enhanced unique programmes including National Teachers Training Centre, Telemedicine and JIPMER quality Council.Significant Reasearch and Development investments are being made towards Universal Health care modeling , population cohort building and Care delivery redesign.
JIPMER also has a new Institute body led by new President Dr M K Bhan, an internationally renowed pediatrician, said Dr Ravikumar.
