The A P Gymnastic Association (APGA) is to set to begin the bifurcation process in the city on Sunday. A decision to abide by the direction issued by the Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association (APOA) has been taken by the incumbent body of APGA.


In order to split the State body into Telangana and Andhra Gymnastic Associations, as has been mandated by the APOA, General Secretary of APGA, M Balraj has convened two separate meetings in Hyderabad and Kakinada whereupon elections will be held under the overall supervision of APOA representatives. Elections to the Telangana State Association will commence at 1200 hrs at Hotel Ranjit Residency near Secunderabad Railway Station on Sunday.

Subsequently, the Seemandhra wing will take shape at Lions Club in Kakinada on Tuesday, according to Balraj.

The results and formation of the two units will be ratified by APOA by May 15, he said here yesterday.

They will come into effect on June 2, the day even the APOA will be split into two.
