In a bid to ensure that all parts of the Mysore district, including the city, gets regular drinking water supply during the ensuing summer, district-in-charge Minister V Sreenivasa Prasad today called a meeting of officials and instructed them to make necessary arrangements in this regard.

The meeting, which was held at ZP office, was attended by engineers from all seven taluks and the Executive Engineers of MCC and Vani Vilas Water works.

The District Minister, who took note of the complaint, demanded explanation from MCC Executive Engineer Krishna and VVWW Executive Engineer Venkatesh, who replied that they were only monitoring the works executed by JUSCO, a Tata company, to which the Minister questioned the two about the manner in which the works were being monitored.

JUSCO officials, present at the meeting said 95 per cent of works have been completed in 45 out of the 65 Wards in MCC for 24x7 supply of drinking water and added that the Model Code of Conduct had delayed works in some Wards.

VVWW Executive Engineer Venkatesh said water being pumped from Hongalli pumping station is feeding water to Paduvarahalli, K G Koppal and Metagalli areas and added that there was a significant fall in the quantum of water at Hongalli.

Meanwhile, ZP CEO P A Gopal said the ZP had sunk 70 borewells in rural areas besides clearing 486 blocked borewells to ensure that water was made available to the residents of all the villages in the district besides supplying water to the various villages through tankers.
