Jaya exhorts partymen to celebrate May Day
AIADMK Supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today urged party workers to celebrate the May Day in a grand manner.
Hailing the hard work of labourers for the betterment of the society, Ms Jayalalithaa, in a statement here, said May Day was being celebrated to honour the toil of the working community.
She said May Day meetings would be conducted by her party all over the State and in Puducherry on May 1.
Stating that details have been published in party organ 'Dr Namadhu MGR', she requested members of various units of the party to take part in the meetings.
In another statement, Ms Jayalalithaa said 106 labourers, who are members of Anna Thozhirsanga Peravai (trade union wing of the AIADMK), would be given family aid of Rs 50,000 each on the occasion of May day.
"A sum of Rs 53 lakh will be given in total," she said and added that the date on which they would be given would be announced later.
