Momination papers of 111 candidates were rejected during the scrutiny in 18 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh where sixth and last phase polling will be held on May 12.


A record 78 candidates had filed their nomination papers from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat from where BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi is contesting and has now 44 in the fray after papers of 34 candidates were rejected today.

A total of 456 candidates had filed their nominations and now 345 are left in the fray.

Candidates can withdraw their nominations till April 28.
