BJP to initiate CBI probe against Cong Govt on disaster expenditure : Rawat
BJP State president Tirath Singh Rawat today said the party would recommend CBI probe into the disaster relief works and on the fund received by Congress government in the state from various sources, once it comes to power.
He said the Congress government should release White Paper on the expenditure of fund.
Addressing a press conference at party headquarters here today, Mr Rawat said that after the disaster, the state government had received crores of rupees as donations from various quarters both national and international level.
However, even after 10 months, the condition of disaster hit areas had not improved, he claimed.
He said that the condition of roads were as it was 10 months back and the people had not been given compensation and were displaced without being rehabilitated.
Mr Rawat said that Char Dham Yatra was about to begin but conditions of roads were as bad as it was after the deluge.
BRO had refused to repair the roads as it had not been provided with the requisite fund.
He said as people who had lost their shops in disaster had not been given compensation, there were no shops at yatra routes.
He said the Congress government instead of utilising the fund in repair and construction works it was used by ministers including the chief minister in helicopter journeys.
Mr Rawat said the chief minister Harish Rawat, when he was union minister, did nothing to improve the condition in disaster hit areas.
The BJP state chief said that Congress ought to contest election like election in a fair way. He said several dubious means were being adopted by Congress to woo voters. He said water tankers were being used to ferry liquor as it was a safe means.
"It is also using money power to buy votes," he said and asked Congress to fight election with fair means.
The Lok Sabha election is scheduled here on May 7.
