Four people were killed when a truck they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge at Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in mountainous Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The truck on way from Jammu to Anantnag in Srinagar at around 0730 hrs skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Khooni Nullah in Devsar area of Ramban, police spokesman here said.

He said all the four died on the spot while the cattle in the truck were reportedly perished.

The bodies of deceased, Muhammad Abass of Banihal, Parvez Ahmed, Mohammad Rafiq (both of Dooru, Anantnag) and Mohammad Arshad, have been recovered.

A case has been registered and investigations started.
