Narendra Modi criticises Sonia, Rahul Gandhi
Addressing an election rally at the local Roshan ground here this afternoon, BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi criticised UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for promoting her son in the Indian politics.
Mr Modi said, she had made ground to make her son Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister and did nothing concrete to develop the country and make it rich and prosperous.
Due to her wrong works, some of the UPA Ministers and leaders indulged in various scams to earn huge money, following which the Indian economy had derailed from its right track, alleged Mr Modi.
He said that voters of the country had realised the reality of Congress leaders and its allied political parties and were in a mood to bring a drastic change in the Indian politics.
Criticising many of the politicians for making false promises for their petty gain, he said politicians should avoid making false promises.
Mr Modi said that majority of Indian farmers were still struggling for their survival due to the wrong policies of the UPA government.
They were not getting proper rates for their agriculture produce. Major stock of their food production stored in various godowns became unfit for human consumption, he added.
Supreme Court had ordered the UPA government to distribute the stacked wheat stock among the poor, but it did not comply the order due to which the entire wheat stock lying in various godowns became unfit for human consumption, he alleging.
Showing his concern over the increasing trend of intoxication among the youths of Punjab, Mr Modi said it was duty of the Central government to protect the borders.
The UPA government had miserably failed in checking drug smuggling on the Indo-Pak border of Punjab, due to which majority of Punjabi youth was under the grip of intoxication.
Referring to the role of Food Corporation of India (FCI), he said in case his government comes to power, he would make three wings of it.
The first wing would purchase food grains and make arrangement of its payment to the farmers, the second wing would make arrangement of storage of the food product and the third wing would ensure its distribution.
Continuing his tirade against Congress, he said the party was never serious to bring back the black money stashed in the foreign banks.
It had ruled the country for more than 60 years. If it was serious, it could easily bring the black money back, said Mr Modi.
Making a scathing attack on Capt Amarinder Singh, he said the latter's name also figured in stashing black money at a foreign bank.
Now, the people of Amritsar would teach him a lesson for his alleged misdeeds, he added.
The Gujarat Chief Minister appealed to voters to vote in favour of BJP candidate Vijay Sampla.
Earlier, chief minister Parkash Singh Badal said that he was very much sure that the people of the country would bring the NDA government in power and Mr Modi would become Prime Minister of the country.
He would make tremendous efforts to enrich the state of Punjab, Mr Badal assured.
Kamal Sharma, State BJP Chief, Avinash Rai Khanna, member of Rajya Sabha, Tikshan Sud, political advisor to the Chief Minister, Som Parkash and Des Raj Dhugga, both Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, Punjab, Sohan Singh Thandal, Surinder Singh Bhulewal Rathan, Amarjit Kaur Sahi, all MLAs and Arunesh Shakar, former Minister, Punjab also addressed the rally.
