The Himachal Pradesh unit of BJP today said lakhs of party PM pick Narendra Modi's admirers were likely to converge on the sprawling Padal stadium in the heart of Mandi, the town of temples, on April 29 to hear him.

Addressing mediapersons, former minister Jai Ram Thakur said fed up with over two dozens of mega scams in the tenure of Congress-led UPA government the people of state had made up their mind to weed out Congress from Dev bhumi - 'Himachal Pradesh'.

The Congress had been befooling the innocent people of the hill state by shallow slogans like 'Garibi Hatao', but in practice it multiplied the poverty whereby things came to such a tragic end that many across the country fell victim to starvation and the government had to make food security law bringing down the image of the country in the world.

The BJP leader called upon the people to take part in polling in large number the day of polling (May 7, 2014) and bring Mr Modi to power to usher in an era of prosperity and end corruption with an iron hand and take stringent measures to bring back the black money deposited in the foreign banks by those who had looted the country with impunity.

He exhorted the people to bid farewell to the former Rajas and Ranis, which were the reminiscent of the hateful monarchy and get the BJP candidate, Ram Swarup Sharma, elected with a big margin. Let them no more rule in the garb of democracy, he cautioned.
