Union Cabinet recommends dissolution of Andhra Pradesh Assembly, extension of Prez rule
The Union Cabinet today recommended the dissolution of Andhra Pradesh Assembly and extension of President's rule.
President's Rule was imposed in Andhra earlier this year but according to the Constitution, Parliament has to ratify it before April 30. As Parliament cannot be called now, the Cabinet took up the matter.
Meanwhile, the government has initiated the process for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh by the appointed day on June 2 when Telangana comes into existence.
The Centre today constituted a five-member expert committee, headed by K C Siva Ramakrishnan, to study the various alternatives regarding the new capital for the successor state of Andhra Pradesh and make appropriate recommendations.
