Two hardcore PLFI held during exchange of fire, Arms, Ammunition seized
Security personnel today arrested two hard core members of the People Liberation Front of India (PLFI), an extremist group from near the Masrikuda village under Bisra Police station following an exchange of fire.
Inspector General of Police (IGP)Western Range, Radha Krushna Sharma told newspersons here that Jaidhar Gope (29)alias Mangru alias Lambu,the PLFI Zonal Area Commander Simdega and his bodyguard Santu Badaik sustained injuries during an exchange of fire near Masrikuda village on the Masrikuda-Irla road and were captured by the police.
Both of them were first admitted to Rourkela government hospital and then rushed to the IGH, Rourkela.
Mr Sharma said one pistol with magazine and two live ammunitions, seven mobile phones,a purse containing Rs 5,350, one wrist watch and a scooty was recovered from their possession.
The IGP said while Jaidhar belonged to Tukitola village under Kolabira Police station of Singhbhum district in Jharkhand, Santu hailed from Jamudihi border village under Tamdera police station of Gumla district in Jharkhand.
Mr Sharma said a criminal case was pending against Jaidhar in Bisra Police station here and 55 cases including 25 murder cases in Jharkhand.
Similarly, Santu has a criminal case in Bisra Police station and five criminal cases including two murder cases in Jharkhand.
The IGP said Bisra police swung into action and rushed to Masrikuda village along with a special squad this morning after getting information that some cadre of PLFI armed with fire arms were moving in the village to commit an extortion.
At the outskirt of the village the police team found two persons moving on a scooty. When they signalled them to stop, both of them started firing at the police team.
The police returned the fire in self defence. During the exchange of fire both the PLFI activists sustained injuries and were captured, Mr Sharma said.
