Police Inspector, Head Constable trapped in bribery case
Two policemen, including a Police Inspector and Head Constable, were today arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a complainant for weakening a criminal case against his son and for releasing his seized car.
The Local Crime Branch (LCB) had registered a case against the complainant's son for selling spurious fertlizer and seized his car.
The complainant had met the two,who were working with LCB, and sought their help to weaken the criminal case against his son and also to release the car, sources said.
Police inspector Balkrishna Sitaram Kadam (47) had demanded Rs 1.25 lakh for the same. Accordingly, the complainant had given Rs one lakh to Kadam and Deepak Vilas Sadamate (49), police head constable.
But later, they started demanding for the remaining Rs 25,000. Then the complainant lodged a complaint against the duo at ACB office here. After verifying his complaint, an ACB team laid a trap and arrested them while the duo were making a demand for the remaining amount, sources added.
