Christian body plea to support Jaya in polls
The Christian Progressive Movement today appealed to the people of Tamil Nadu to vote for the ruling AIADMK in the April 24 Lok Sabha polls.
Talking to reporters here, Movement President B Jayakumar said the Centre and those parties from Tamil Nadu, which were part of the Government, had betrayed the state by not taking any steps for the state's development.
The Congress Government at the Centre had turned a blind eye to the recurring attacks on fishermen by the Lankan Navy, failed to grant any financial package to the state and not implemented any developmental works, he said.
On the contrary, the ruling AIADMK led by Ms J Jayalalithaa had been striving hard to make Tamil Nadu the numero uno state in all sectors.
She had been implementing various schemes and welfare measures for the benefit of all sections of the people and it would only be appropriate that a new government with the support of the AIADMK should be formed at the Centre after the polls, he added.
Mr Jayakumar said with a view to ensure that Tamil Nadu gets its due rights, people should vote for AIADMK in the polls and ensure that it wins all the 40 seats (39 in TN and the lone seat in Pondy).
