Congress will take up the task to clean Yamuna: Rahul
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today said if his party came to power, a comprehensive plan to clean river Yamuna would be launched.
"My party is committed to making Yamuna pollution-free and the plan will be in place if UPA comes to power at the Centre, he said while addressing an election rally at Mathura in Uttar Pradesh in support of Congress-RLD joint candidate Jayant Chaudhary.
Rahul said the Congress had many developmental plans up its sleeve and a fresh series of schemes would be launched in the next government. "The track record of the party has already proved that the Congress has always done the politics of development while the BJP indulged in the divisive polity," he said.
He said the products of China were sold in Indian market but he wanted to reverse the trend. "I would like to see the products from Mathura as well as of the entire Uttar Pradesh in China," he said adding "that is why, I want Mathura to be on the map to link it with industrial corridors of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Manglore."
Firing a broadside at the BJP, the Congress-vice president said it always played with the religious sentiments of the people and vitiated communal harmony in the country.
