Sangh Parivar playing dangerous divisive game : Mufti
Expressing dismay over the alleged venomous statements being dished out by some BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said such utterances have to be viewed more seriously than mere police cases or violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) as these could have ruinous consequences.
"The virulent statements of BJP leader Griraj Kishore and VHP leader Praveen Togadia, are loaded with communal intrigue which could not only destabilise the country but have the potential of hitting at the very idea of India," Mr Sayeed said while addressing election rallies in Beerwa assembly segment of Srinagar-Budgam Parliamentary constituency, going to polls on April 30.
PDP patron alleged that the Sangh Parivar was playing a dangerous game by stoking the fires of communalism and pitting people against each other for political gains.
Cautioning that such spiteful utterances could cost the country very heavy, Mr Sayeed said the polarisation of people on religious and ethnic lines could have worse consequences than festering sore of subcontinent's partition which led to an unending cycle of human misery and destruction.
Asking the country's political leadership, across the board, not to get trapped in the treacherous divisive discourse,Mr Sayeed said "I am sure the people of the country are emancipated enough to see through the designs of these divisive elements and would not allow them to succeed."
