Noted film maker Subhash Ghai has said his new film 'Kaanchi' is a powerful commentary on the contemporary India with focus on women empowerment.

The film has unveiled the levels of corruption in the public life and crusade against the social ills by heroine in the film, he told reporters here today. Newcomer Mishti, playing Kaanchi in the film, is the protagonist who had endeavored to bring reforms in the society despite being coming from a modest background, he said.

Ghai was here to promote his new movie slated to be released on April 25 next. He said that the film had depicted all the problems the Indian society was faced with and their solutions in effective but peaceful manner.

He described his film as a family film with strong social message.

The renowned film maker, who has given hits like 'Kalicharan','Ram Lakhan', 'Pardes','Taal', Khalnayak' and 'Karz', was paricularly elated over a thought-provoking song 'Saare Jahan Se Accha, Hindostan Hamara, Chalo Dhoond Laye Usko Itne Bade Jahan Se' sung by Sukhvinder Singh. He said the lyrics of the song had already become poular among the masses specially the youths who desperately wanted to change the face of the country.

The main cast of the film including male lead Kartik and Mishti was present on the occasion.
