IPL: RCB beat Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated current champion Mumbai Indians by seven wickets and 15 balls to spare here on Saturday.
Chasing Mumbai's 115 for nine, Bangalore reached 116 by losing three wickets.
RCB got off to a poor start by losing three quick wickets of Nic Maddinson (12), Virat Kohli (0) and Yuvraj Singh (0), but Parthiv Patel and AB de Villiers reached the target without any further damage.
Patel, who has always struggled to get back to the Indian squad, played a crucial knock of unbeaten 57 runs off 45 balls in the innings. he smashed seven boundaries in the knock.
AB de Villiers on the other hand hit unbeaten 45 runs as along with Patel added 99 runs in the fourth wicket to reach the target.
Zaheer (2/21) Khan gave two earlier blows to RCB.
Mumbai Indians, who suffered their second defeat in the tournament, posted 115 runs for nine in 20 overs.
Mumbai batsmen failed to convert their start to scores and it was only
Ambati Rayudu (35) who reached above the 20-run mark on Saturday.
RCB registered the second victory in the cash-rich tournament.
Mitchell Starc, Varun Aaron and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up two wickets each for RCB.
