Narasarao Pet is considered to be bastion to the Congress party since 1957. The TDP won only three times-1984,1996,2009-in the Parliamentary constituency and only two times-2004 and 2009-in the Assembly segment. The Congress this time fielded Kasu Krishna Reddy, who is the son of former Chief Minister K Brahamana Reddy.
Mr Krisha Reddy was the co-operation minister in the erstwhile government. His son Mahesh Reddy was filed to assembly segment he too refused to contest. The TDP fielded the mighty business man and five-time MP, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, who was in the Congress party for over three decades and recently joined the TDP. The Narasarao pet Assembly constituency was allocated to the BJP by the TDP as per seat sharing pact. The BJP fielded Y Raghunatha Babu in the constituency.
