Jagan, Vijayamma file nominations
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and YS Vijayamma filed their nomination papers amidst fanfare for the Pullivendula Assembly and Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituencies today.
YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy filed his papers for the Pulivendula Assembly constituency in Kadapa district with milling crowds thronging to the venue, where he addressed the gathering and sought their blessings and thanked them for support and cooperation extended to him and his family members.
"We have gone through turbulent times for the past five years after the death of YSR and I thank every one of you for blessing me and our family with your unstinted support at the time of turmoil," Mr Jagan told reporters after filing nominations.
"I have come here (pulivendula) to file my nomination for assembly and in the next few days, we will be having elections. With your support, the golden era of YSR will return to the state," he said, amidst cheers.
"The state has witnessed agony and I seek your mandate and will return as Chief Minister of the state next time," he said and appealed to give a thumping and one-sided verdict to the party, which would a "tribute to YSR."
"I understand the plight of famers and the hardships you have gone through after the death of YSR and the political system has gone through a phase of divisive politics and it has degraded and decayed," he said.
"There is no respect for values and value-based politics and it is time to revive the YSR model of political system and bring in a welfare state," he said and assured that he would bring back the golden era of YSR.
"This is the first time YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is contesting for Assembly. He was elected to Kadapa Lok Sabha twice earlier," he said.
His mother and party President Y S Vijayamma, accompanied by her daughter Sharmila, filed nomination for Lok Sabha from Visakhaptanam amidst cheers from supporters and well-wishers.
Both the constituencies will go to polls on May 7.
