People fed up with AIADMK, DMK: EVKS
Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister E V K S Elangovan today claimed the people of Tamil nadu were fed up with Dravidian parties, the DMK and the ruling AIADMK and this will reflect in the outcome of the April 24 Lok sabha elections.
Addressing a press conference here he pointed out that the people were now only thinking against the Dravidian parties.
He said Congress was the only party since Independence protecting the interest of the minorities and called upon minorities to extend support to the party in the April 24 Lok Sabha elections in the state.
He took strong exception to the Tamil Nadu Towheed jamad which recently pulled out of the ruling AIADMK fold and decided to support the DMK in 36 Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu. He said the party might forget that the DMK has took part in the NDA ministry led by Prime Minister A B Vajpayee and asked what could be the reason behind its decision to support the DMK.
Moreover, Mr Elangovan pointed out that Mr Karunanidhi who till recently praised Mr Narendra Modi and Mr Karunanidhi always eyes power and posts. If Ms jayalalithaa's dream of becoming the Prime Minister of India's realised, Mr Karunanidhi would not hesitate to approach even her and ask her three ministers in the Union cabinet for the DMK , Mr Elangovan said sarcastically.
He took strong exception to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa blamming the Centre whenever there was rise in the prices of petrol and diesel. He asked whether Ms jayalaithaa would welcome yesterday's reduction in the price of the petrol, asked Mr Elangovan.
