Eleven people were killed and 36 others injured in two major road accidents reported in Karnataka today.

A KSRTC bus caught fire near Medikurke Village near Hiriyur on NH 4 in Chitradurga District in which six people were charred to death and 20 injured during the early hours of today.

In the other accident reported from Belgaum, a Cruiser vehicle fell into a dry rivulet from a bridge, near Udkeri Village in Bailhongal Taluk, klling five people on the spot and injuring 16 others.

Police said in the first incident in Chitradurga reported at around 0330 hrs today, the driver of the bus coming from Davangere to Bangalore, noticed fire in the vehicle.

In a panic reaction, he drove the bus in a rash manner even as the fire spread, following which the bus overturned and fell by the side of the road.
