Chilly conditions are back as the maximum and minimum temperatures remained below normal in the Kashmir valley, where light to moderate rain or thundershowers could occur in the next 72 hrs.

Though there was some improvement in the minimum temperature at border town of Kargil, but it was still sub zero temperature.

A Met department spokesman said today there could be light to moderate rain or thundershowers at many places over Jammu and Kashmir in the next 24 hours.

During the subsequent two days there could be increase in precipitation till April 18.

However, he warned that rain or thundershowers accompanied by moderate thunder squalls cold occur at some places over Jammu division from today.

After recording below normal minimum temperature, the sky was cloudy this morning as the people woke up this morning which was followed by light to moderate rain in the valley, resulting in cold.

People continued to wear woolen and warm cloths due to chilly conditions.

Students were also seen wearing winter uniform because of chill.

Gulmarg, the world famous ski resort witnessed drop in the night temperature. Against yesterdays 0.5 degree, it was minus 0.8 degree, three degree below normal.

At famed health resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir, the minimum temperature was 2.4 degree, about a notch below normal.

In the summer capital, Srinagar the night temperature was 7.2 degree, a degree below normal. Sky was cloudy and there was light rain today.

Met spokesman said there could be light rain or thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be 17 degree and 5 degree respectively.

At gateway of Kashmir, Qazigund the minimum temperature was 6 degree, a degree below normal while at Kokernag 4.9 degree, a notch below normal and Kupwara 6 degree, one degree below normal.

Karrgil, a border town in Ladakh the night temperature was minus 1.8 degree against yesterdays minus 3.4 degree while at Leh it was 2 degree against 0.6 degree recorded yesterday.

Met spokesman said the sky would be partly cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 12 degree and one degree respectively.
