A Italy-based NRI resident of Village Bahadur near Bilga died under mysterious circumstances at a private hospital here last night.


The relatives of the deceased Ram Asra(43) described the death due to medical negligence which was strongly denied by the doctors belonging to Indian Medical Association. Several relatives and friends of the deceased, including brother Ugar Lal and state BSP general secretary Jarnail Nangal along with the supporters, registered their protest by alleging the carelessness of the hospital.

The Doctor who operated him said after successful surgery of spine on April 7, the patient complained of leg pain and to clear doubts a MRI was conducted of the patient on April 13 which was almost normal. He told that to check any clot, the patient was examined on April 14.

Dr Puneet said he himself met the deceased on Tuesday who told him about his recovery, but soon after he was informed about his ill health. The doctor disclosed that he and his staff made all out efforts to save his life, but could not succeed. He said perhaps NRI died due to sudden cardiac arrest.

The deceased NRI is survived by is wife, a son and a daughter who will soon arrive here from Italy.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been kept in the mortuary of civil hospital.

On the other hand, when contacted Kapurthla CMO Balbir Singh said he was out of station on few days leave. Officiating CMO Gur Iqbal Singh, when contacted told, that he did not receive the details of the case and will act accordingly.
