Several people were injured when ten coaches of a passenger train derailed, near Jagoriaod in Assam's Morigaon district, under Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), in the wee hours today.

An NFR spokesperson said 10 coaches of 15666 dn Dimapur-Kamakhya BG Express derailed at about 0230 hrs between Aujuri and Jagiraod.

Three of the coaches plunged into water forming a pool on the side of the tracks.

Official sources said 13 people were injured in the accident, while 32 were discharged after first aid. Local sources said no casualty has been reported yet.

Rescue and relief operations were on and efforts to restore the track were also going on.

Meanwhile, the accident has disrupted rail link with eastern Assam and several trains, including Rajdhani Express and Kamrup Express, have been stopped at different points.
