Senior Congress Leader and Union Shipping Minister G K Vasan here tonight charged that the ruling AIADMK government of blocking several centrally sponsored schemes to Tamil Nadu by the Union Government.


He called upon the people, not to forgive the AIADMK and its Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for blocking the welfare schemes to Tamil Nadu, sanctioned by the Union Government.

Addressing a electioneering meeting in support of the party's nominee to the Tiruchirapalli Lok Sabha constituency Sarubala Thondaiman here tonight, Mr Vaasan also charged that Ms Jayalalithaa is very keen to increase the revenue from retail outlets of the Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) run by the state owned TASMAC, and not from other developmental activities of the State.

He said Ms Jayalalithaa had hiked the price of milk, bus fare and electricity tariff soon after assuming office and has not bothered how such actions would affect the common people.

He recalled that late Congress Chief Minister K Kamaraj had established number of schools and had undertaken other developmental measures for the people of Tamil Nadu 60 years ago. But there after both the DMK and the AIADMK one after another, opened liquor shops and destroying the people especially the youth of the state.
