South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager P K Srivastava today said 'Nirbhaya' squad comprises of lady RPF constables and Ticket Examiners exclusively to conduct intensive checks to prevent male passengers from travelling in ladies coaches and to take care of the security needs of the women passengers.


Participating at the Zonal level central function of the 59th Railway Week Celebrations here, Mr Srivastava said the four 'Nirbhaya' squads that were functional had apprehended more than 3,400 offenders and realised around Rs ten lakh as fines during the last three months.

Mr Srivastava gave a call to the employees and officers of SCR to accord utmost priority to the safety and security of passengers in their working.

While commending the efforts of the staff in reducing the number of consequential train accidents by 29 per cent compared to last year, he stressed that it should be brought down to zero - level, by religiously following the motto-'Safety first, others next'.

Mr Srivastava said based on the feedback from women passengers, combined mobile squads of security and commercial departments had been set up to strengthen security of women commuters at MMTS Stations/Trains in twin cities.
