City Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar today announced clamping prohibitory orders and ban on sale of liquor from April 15 at 1700 hrs as precautionary measure to ensure free and fair polling on April 17 to the Lok Sabha. The ban will be in force till midnight April 17.


The ban prohibits carrying of all types of fire arms and deadly weapons, such as cudgels, swords, bludgeons, guns, knives, sticks or lathies or any other articles which are capable of being used for causing physical violence in public places.

However, the ban order is exempted for the traditional Karaga religious procession which will be taken out in the night of April 15 and 16.

The Commissioner has also banned the sale, consumption of liquor, wine, arrack or any other intoxicants in any wholesale and retail outlets. Order that all liquor shops, wine shops, bars.
