Kerala Motor vehicle department and state police have jointly introduced a 'Whatsapp' facility to ensure road safety in the state.

Public can now connect with police through Whatsapp, to report traffic violations, a release said here.

Rash driving, helmet-less travel, overload of vehicles, traffic jams, suspicious number plates, and use of banned sun films can be reported to the authorities directly through Whatsapp, with relevant photos and videos, including the place and time of the incident.

A special officer, who is handling the application will forward the image or video to the control room for further action.

Public and also use this facility to report unattended road accidents to save lives.
