A total of 267 candidates remained in fray after withdrawal of nominations by 39 candidates from the poll battle on the last date for withdrawal of candidature yesterday, for the first phase of general elections to be held on April 30 in 17 parliamentary constituencies across ten districts in Telangana of Andhra Pradesh.

While there are 30 candidates in Secunderabad and Malkajgiri parliamentary constituencies each, there are six candidates in the Nagarkurnool (SC) Lok Sabha segment.

As per the alliance with the TDP, former union minister of state Bandaru Dattetreya is contesting from Secunderabad parliamentary constituency against the sitting Congress MP Anjan Kumar Yadav.

Current Congress MP and Union Minister of state for Roads and Highways Sarve Satyanarayana, Lok Satta President Jayaprakash Narayan, C Nalla Malla Reddy, owner of Malla Reddy Group of Educational (TDP) and former DGP V Dinesh Reddy (YSR Congress) are contesting from the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha segment.

Former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao's grandson, Sudha Kiran is also contesting from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket.

After alliance with the BJP, Malkajgiri was allotted to the TDP.

A total of 13 candidates remained in the fray from Medak parliamentary constituency from where Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Chief K Chandrashekar Rao is contesting.

Sixteen candidates were in the fray for Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat where Majlis-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (MIM) Chief Assaduddin Owaisi is contesting.

A total of 1,682 candidates were in the fray after withdrawal nominations by 554 candidates for the 119 assembly constituencies in Telangana of Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh will go to two phase polling (Telangana and Seemandhra). The second phase polling for 25 Lok Sabha constituencies and 175 assembly constituencies in Seemandhra will be held on May 7.
