3 AP tourists drowned at Morjim Beach in Goa
Three tourists of seven member group hailing from Andra Pradesh are feared drowned, while two others were rescued by lifeguards at Morjim beach, in Pernem in north Goa last evening.
Pernem police identified the deceased as Navin Bhola (24) and Shravan Kumar Reddy (26), whose bodies were recovered soon, while Gopal Krishna Koteshwaram's (24), body was not found till late evening.
A seven-member group from Andra Pradesh had arrived in Goa as tourist and were staying in a hotel at Calangute. Yesterday the group went to Tembwada Morjim and after lunch in the evening went for a swim.
The trio went deep into the water where they were carried away by strong waves and were struggling for life. On hearing the cries for help, the lifeguard and three others rushed to the spot and brought Bhola and Reddy to the shore in an unconscious state.
Bhola died on the beach, while Reddy succumbed at the district hospital in Mapusa.
The bodies of both the deceased were sent to Goa Medical college hospital for post-mortem.
Police have registered a case of drowning and further investigation is on.
